Website update motivated by internet connection problem
May 26, 2007
At around 3pm, after watching the qualifications for the Formula 1 Grand Prix, I decided to do some small update to my website, actually I had to fix some mistake I did in a page title a couple of days ago. I connected to the internet, used my installed FTP program to connect to the server and loaded the file to edit from the server itself. I fixed the mistake closed the file and the upload started. While the file was sent, I got disconnected from the internet. F**k . . . a big f**ked up situation this was. Only 60% of the upload was done and there was no way to resume the upload of this file which is a very important file. An incomplete file can make the entire wesbite not work at all and so this happened. Things got very bad and ugly.
The problem here was that the local file on my computer isn't the same like on the server. The one on my computer is a more optimized version of the one on the server. This optimized and enhanced version works perfect, but only with the changed, enhanced and optimized versions of the other files. By uploading only this one screwed up file, the entire website would become buggy and nasty. Here I was, sitting very pissed in front of my computer with only one thing left to do . . . upload the entire website and check it for mistakes. It took me some time to finish this which I could have done before, but the changes were not finished, yet. Basically image descriptions are missing, which I have to write now since these updated pages are online available for a wide public. I'll try to hurry up with the description writing and will upload them as soon as possible. If you happen to find some bug ( a website not working, seeing error pages all the time ) or you think that something's very odd with a page, don't hesitate to use the contact form and let me know about what you see.
