So, here is another update. Today I finished to recode the site, a couple of hours ago. Like I sad yesterday, I got rid of the iframes and ParaNews. Now working with this .php site called news and and with tables. The site seems to work the right way and it's faster, I think. Well it looks better. Here is a small list of changes

  • Using tables instead of iframes
  • ParaNews v3.3 is gone and a single .php site is now the news section
  • banners don't rotate now, because there is only one in the correct size 720x100px. Ther other two I had, have the old size of 585x80px, will do some more if I'll have time, a lot of time
  • scrollbar is fixed, people using Internet Explorer can see the scrollbar colors
  • guestbook now opens in a new browser window
  • skin and logon section are up, but without a content, soon people, soon

If you find a bug, feel free to "mail me" and I will see what I can do. I know I know the layout is a bit boring, I will work on it, if I will have time. There are several things I'm working on so I can't dedicate 100% of the time to my website. It looks like I will go for a while. I'll be gone for 2 to 4 weeks, so it'll be a bit hard to update the site. I'm not taking my computer with myself and I don't have a laptop. If I would have one I would work on the site in my free time. So if I don't answer your mail imediatelly, the reason is, 'cos I'm gone.

Changing the code

This site is only two days up and I'm changing the code of it. Hmmm, I can't hold still, I have to do something on and on and on. You can't see the cahnges, yet, because they new stuff isn't on ther server. I'll change the site and then will uplaod it. Hopefully I don't have to move a lot gugh files, only the .php stuff. Well, here is what I'm doing.

  • I kicked out the iframes. Insead of an iframe I'm using tables now. Actually only one table, but I'm sure I could do that with much more tables. I onlc have to figure out how. What's so different ? ? ? Well, the site is dynamic now. It changes the table automatically. If there is a loger text that the table hight it simply changes it. The whole site to be showen is included int he table, really cool. Something I realy like on this is the address you can see clicking a link. Now you see something like blah.php?section=wtf and stuff like these. It'll take a few days to see if it works the way I want. I started yesterday, but today I mixed something up so I started all over again.
  • Changing the .css file. I put two new colors to the file. One is the menu titel background-color and the other is the background-color of the section titels after they are called to be showen on the site. The menu fonts are differnt, the title border are solid instead of dashed.
  • Kicked off Paranews v3.3 .I could use it but it would mix up my whole site. The codes overlap and cause some serious errors in the site code and the layout. I could use it as a popup, but I don't want it.
  • The guestbook opens in a popup window. Nedd one guestbook and if I would let it open in the page it would cause the same problems like Paranews v3.3. I have to lern how this works and then I'll change it back, maybe.

ParaNews

Yesterday, after the upload of the website to the new host, I went to the ParaNews website to see whether there is a newer version of the NewsSystem. I was surprised to see the version 3.3 . It was some kind of shock to me because I was working with the version 2.0 . I had the stone age vresion of the system. I had to download the new version so I did it.

Today I was testing this latest build and saw that some things were missing. I wrote to the forum to see if there is a way to bring back the feature. I was told that ther is a new, better way of this feature so I checked the NewsSystem again and saw the benefit of it. Now I'm fully satisfied with it. Uploaded the news script, so now I'm up to date.

Huh, where should I start, because there is a lot to say

  • the site is now know under igorklajo.de, the jokla.tk redirect won't contain this website. I'll put up a link that will bring visitors to igorklajo.de
  • thanks to my brother-in-law I have now a domain and webspace that is satisfying
  • welcome page is changed, it has some info about this page and three pictures of me
  • a new link and button is in the menu bar on the left

  • "legals & thanks" is changed, has some more lines in the copyright section and some extension for the thanks, too
  • update of "contact" information, mail address have been changed
  • "linkage"section has some basic changes, the subcategory "people" and "art & photo" have changed the places, a new banner is add under "others" and two new links appear in the "people" category - fallintoblue.com and hellocrissy.com
  • new manipulation is up, you can find it under withereddoll (Lenore)
  • wallpapers are up. Actually they are not on this site. I linked them to deviantART.com. I did this because of the abndwidth limitation. I'll do the same with the upcoming section called "logons" where you'll be able to download some WinXP logon screens
  • 3 headers are now in the rotator, two I made for this site and one I took from my old website
  • scrollbar seems to be still broken I don't know if it's only on my Interent Explorer or if this problem is with other Internet Explorer, too. Actually I don't care for this scrolbar, because I can't see it. I'm using Mozilla 1.6 that doesn't show the colored schrollbar. Anyway, I'll see what I can do.

That's it. I'll go back and see what I can do with the code, if I can improve the speed of the site and change some other things.
