Do you Yahoo! or Google

May 30, 2005

Do you use Yahoo! or Google for your searches on the Interent? ? ? Well, some of you might use both seach engines, but how do you use them. Maybe you seach first with one engine and then with the other one, or maybe you open two browsers or tabs and search in both. What if you can seach with Yahoo and Google at the same time, from the same window. Go to YaGoohoo!gle and search for result by typing the information into the seach box only once . . . Click on seach and you'll see Google and Yahoo! in the same window searching for the same subject.

If you don't like one of the following search angines then go to alexa.com or alltheweb.com . . . or to some other search engine.

The saga continues

May 20, 2005

The sxi lady manipulation series just got its 16th picture . . . Yes, this is the saga the title is about, it's not about Star Wars. The gorgeous Manya did a couple new stock photos which she uploaded to her stock account called obscured-stock. I got them all and looked at them to see which one I can use, which one would and could be the next in this neverending series. It didn't take long and I had my decission for the first one. How I created this manipulation I realized that it'll look great as a minimalistic wallapper and logo screen, so there will be a couple of more things going on in the next couple of days.

I think I should do another manipulation for the series, or maybe just create the wallpapers and logon screens. The full sized manipulation is in my gallery at deviantART

Wallpapers and logon screens

May 15, 2005

I've created a minimalistic wallapaper and a matching logon screen a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to add the preview to this site, but since I was working on the new layout I didn't ask Liang ( girl the stock come from ) for persmission to do so. Two days ago I aked her and she told me, well she replied to me via note, I can do it. Thank you.

If you wanna know what kind of stock photos she has at deviantart, then go and visit her stock gallery called shanghai-STOCK. Her regular account at deviantart is called shanghai. Also go and check out the wallpaper and logon screen.

CSS3 incoming

May 14, 2005

I don't know if you heared or read about CSS3 and what great options it'll offer when fully released to the world. It'll be great, because it allows the user to define the site layout easier, to create more complex sites with less work, well that's what I understand from what I read. The only problem is the support by different web browsers. The current CSS3 options available are supported by only a few browsers like Firefox 1+, Mozilla 1.5+ and Safari 1+. Older browsers like Firebird 0.6.1 support some of the CSS3 options. I'm wondering how long it's gonna take to make all browsers compatible with CSS3, when some browsers today doesn't support CSS2.

Here is site that shows how the CSS3 pseudo-class :target works. To read more about this pseudo class visit the W3C wesbite.

Freaky Friday

May 13, 2005

What other day than Friday the 13th could be better for the release of the third website layout of igorklajo.de. I think there is no better day for doing this. With this, let me say, the new layout is official. Everything is done that had to be done, hmmmm, I think so. It took more than I thought to finish the site. Not because there was to much work, more because I did some other work, soemthing that was somehow more important than finishing this layout. I could have done it one week ago, but Friday the 13th is just a fine day to complete the work. I tested the site with the following browsers: Firebird 0.6, Firefox ( 0.8, 0.9.2, 1.0.3, 1.0.4 ), Mozilla ( 1.4, 1.5, 1.6b, 1.7.7, 1.8a2 ), Opera ( 7.11, 7.5, 7,8 ), Netscape 7.1 and Internet Explorer 6.

While testing the site with the listed browsers I saw only two problems. One problem is that the image opacity effect doesn't and the other is the non-existant banner backround. Both problems are CSS related problems and occure while browsing with browsers that have problems showing CSS2 ( no 100% CSS2 support ). I'll do my best to fix those problems. I'm not able to test the site with Safari, Konqueror, Camino, IE for Mac and all other existent browsers. If anybody is wisiting this site with those browsers please let me know wether there is a bug or not.

I think that's it for now. Drop me some lines and let me know what you think about it, but keep in mind that I'm a very sensitive young man.

Random dreaming

May 8, 2005

After a nice Formula 1 race, which was won by Kimi Raikkonen, I had to continue the work on the site. It doesn't matter what day it is, if it's a Monday, Sunday, Birthday, New Year, if I want to work on the site, I'm doing it. I don't care about others telling me not to do it, for me it's just a day like all other. Well, May 19th 2005 won't be a day like all others, it'll be the day the Siths will strike back. Yeah, Star Wars: Episode III will open in theaters all around the globe. I'm not one of those people (often called fans, fanatics, geeks, lunatics, etc.) who dress up like some of the characters in this huge saga, or colecting all and everyting about SW. I'm just a guy who is fascinated by the story, the way it's told and the idea of maybe being able to play in the sequels (if George Lucas is gonna continue the story in the far far future). Huh, it would be great if I could go to the World premiere to L.A. on Monday 16th May this year, what will be a in something more than one week. Why did I start this note ? ? ? Oooh yeah, site update.

Well, I'm still working on the site. Yes, I know it's lame from me. The site could have been finished by now, I'm fully aware of this but hey, I'm not on speed. I'll slow down as long as I'm able to slow down. I'll work on my site relaxed, because I don't know if I gonna be relaxed later in the job, so excuse me for my slowness. The site, . . . . riiiight. I started to fix the past "news". Since this site has a new structure ( again ) I have to fix some links, and also change some things due the changes I've done to the CSS file.

Crashtest dummies

May 7, 2005

The site is now in a testing phase. I uploaded the site, well the parts that are finished, to a testing folder at my domain. I did this to hear a couple of opinions and critics about the site. Did this so I could ask for advice, because I'm not sure about a couple of things I've done on the site. For example the navigation backgound, well actually the whole navigation looks a bit boring to me. I'm also not sure if I should style the subnavigaiton links or not. I want them look a bit different but also make sure that people know that those links are important for the site. The welcome page, the text on it, is somehow boring. I'm not a big writer so I need some time to creat a proper text. The same problem I have with the "linkage" and "portfolio" category.

Validation is another reason why I put the site on the net. I wanted to see if he the W3C Markup Validation Service validates my site or not. I was pretty surprised when I saw that only a few sites need a couple of fixes. Later when the site will be finished the CSS will undergo a validation check.

I got slowed down

May 6, 2005

I'm a bit far behind schedule to finish the site. I got slowed down by some other things. Yesterday I went to the hospital to visit my father and today I cut the grass outside, it's a lot of work, took my three hours to finish the work today. Yup, a lot space to make look nice. Later in the afternoon, my cousing came for some things so another three hours flew away.

Hey, are you interested in how some sites looked in the past ? ? ? If so than visit the Webarchive. It has over 40 billion websites archived from 1996 to a few months ago. Maybe you'll find the previous two layouts of this site.

V.I.P ( imagine the V as a W )

May 4, 2005

Wednesday time and I'm closer to the finish line. Yes, I'm working on the site, again, so I did yesterday, but was too lazy to write some lines about it. The most time I was experimenting with some things on the site, so nothing important was done in the past 24 hours. I have this problem to figure out how some things should look like with the new style. I just can't leave them with the old layout style, those things won't work that well . . . I think I should work on the parts I can finish and should leave the complicated things for the end, but hey, I'm Igor, I'm doing it the other way.

How should I do the pictures, how should I make them appear on the site. Should I create for eaxh of them a site, or should I include only the pictures? Am I able to do this with my knowledge of PHP? The answer is blowing in the wind . . . Aaaaaaaaah, I don't know. . . Let's get back to work.

Work in progress

May 2, 2005

Hello there. It's Monday, again, and what's the best to do on a Monday . . . right, to work on the site. I have to say that the work is doing fine, I'm sitll at the phase where I define some elements in the CSS file. First I have to do this so later on I only have to change the tags in the HTML code. I changed the "about" category a little bit. I deleted the all except the last desktop picture and in the website history, only the history of this site is left.

It's not neccessary to have informations about other websites here on this site, for such information I created intodesign.

Only a few categories are finished right now, it's step by step process I'm going throught. After about 2 hours of playing around I managed to redesign the guestbook. Now it looks just fine . . . works excellent. I'm also about to create some graphical elements for the site, I'm not the best at this so I'm not sure if I gonna use them.
