Redesign started

February 23, 2006

A couple of days ago I started the redesign of this website. I've been thinking about doing this for quite some time, but none of the ideas for the layout were good enough, well I hated them so I quickly gave up the work. About ten days ago I got the idea, for a clean and minimalistic look, one that could be used for my subdomains aswell, so after this portfolio site will be finished, I'll be changing the music ( at this time it looks horrible ) part of the site and then the tutorial part of the site, well will do maybe first the tutorial site and then the music. Gotta see on which could be finished earlier.

So far the guestbook was the heardest to style, but in the end I managed to change the look of it. I only hope that it'll look for you good aswell. The biggest problem I gonan have is to create a decent header, one that will do fine with the rest of the site and one that won't look that cheap.

Well, that's it for now, I'll go back to work, so this site gets done earlier.

New stuff on the floor

February 10, 2006

After a very long time I finally managed to do some new creations. I shouldn't call them creations, because I didn't spend much time on creating those wallpapers. I almost haven't done anything to the original stock-photos. I just flipped them horizontaly, only those I had to, and used a minimal editing with some Photoshop plugins, after that I created the desired screen resolutions and that's it. Nothing special, just some minimalistic desktop backgrounds with a female theme. You can see the previews of them in the wallpapers section on this website and the whole palette of images are available from my account at deviantART. Soon I'll create matching login screens so when you start Windows you'll see the background and then the desktop icons will start to show up. I think this is a nice way to start the operating system, well at least it looks smooth.

Something else I have to say is that my site has undergone some more code restructuring. I changed the heading format, well, I finally managed to follow the standard for this case. I never used h1 before, always started with h2 cos I thought that I'll probably need h1 for some things in the future. To change all those headings wasn't that easy, I had to be carefull not to break the exisiting code while changing in to the new one and as I can see, this website is still working.

I'm still fighting those bad bots. From time to time a message appears in the guestbook, but each day there is less of them in there.

Looks like the robots.txt and the IP block list start working the right way. I also got something for all those bad bots, bad spiders, bad scrawlers and spammers that don't respect any common rules, so soon this site should have a normal traffic level.

Google AdSense

February 5, 2006

Today I registered this website to GoogleAd Sense. I have to wait a couple of days till I can log in to my account and setup everything for the site, well it'll take a couple of days to check my submited information and then I'll get a mail with the Google's decision wether I can use GoogleAd Sense or not. That's all about this subject.

Here is one site to check out. This belongs to Maja and can be found under the following link: majahomen.com

Some more site optimization

February 3, 2006

The last couple of days I did some more site optimization. Again I was working a bit on the website code and did some CSS tweaks to the site aswell. I also managed to stop those annoying spam messages in my guestbook. I don't know if it has something to do with the updated version of the guestbook, or if this is of the new location of the guestbook or if it's because of the blocked IP address. If I still get those annoying messages then I'll know the answer.

In the next days I'll add GoogleAd Sense to the site. I'll place it on the left side under the navigation, well under the information that is under the page navigation. I'll modify it so that people will see that I have some ads running on the site but won't focus, won't torture the visitors with them.

Some more modifications will take place in the next time. I hope you'll pop in from time to time to see what those changes are.
